Illusion Dress

Drew is responsible for naming this dress. I tried it on to show him my finished work for the day, and he said, "That dress is an illusion!"

This idea came from my ballet days. I bought a leotard from a professional ballerina when she retired. It was all black, but it had teal oval-shaped insets instead of side seams. So, from a front or back view, it looked like I had the best hourglass shape and a tiny waist like a cartoon.

For my Illusion dress, I did geometric insets, a deep v-neck, and soft bias-cut sleeves.

The "illusion dress" is becoming very popular in the celebrity world, apparently... I just saw pics of Kate Winslet in one a few days ago, and they are selling them in RTW in Sydney... however your version is so much more couture looking, and elegant - graphic and chic, not trying to be a cheap trick :)
